Feeding Winter Birds

There are many ways of feeding your backyard birds. Different kinds of birds prefer different methods of eating their food. Depending on the type of bird seed you choose and how you deploy it will determine the kinds of birds you attract.

Loose bird seed will attract most birds, however some birds such as Jays and Downy Woodpeckers prefer Suet Blocks. Hard blocks of seed are great if you are looking to attract squirrels as well as small birds like finches. Continue to the next page to see the many different feeders we sell at our store.

Most bird feeders are meant to be hung because it keeps predators like cats from getting too close. Some Tube Feeders provide holes below perches for finches to allow upside-down feeding, preventing larger birds like sparrows from keeping the finches away. Feeder Socks are also great for attracting small finches.

Bird feeders can also attract squirrels, so if you don't wish to feed the squirrels, we sell special feeders designed to prevent squirrels from getting to all of the bird seed.
